THE CREDENTIALS

"But they shall serve YHVH their Almighty and David their king whom I will raise up to them!" Jeremiah 30:9

A question: have you ever heard of a missionary organization dedicated to proving that George Washington was the first president of the U.S.A.?? The answer is no, because an historic fact needs no "proving". Another question: if Jesus was a true "messiah" and redeemer. why are so many thousands of missionaries (employing so many methods of persuasion,) still trying so hard to "prove" that he was? Why did his own generation refuse to accept him? Does the book called the "New Testament" prove his messiaship? Let's have a look at some relevant passages.

In Matthew 11:2-3 we read an amazing thing: "Now, when John had heard in prison the works (miracles) of Christ, he sent two of his disciples to say to him, 'are you he that should come, or should we look for another?'" After John had heard of all the miracles Jesus had performed, and had heard a voice proclaiming from heaven that Jesus was "My beloved son" (Matthew 3:17) etc. etc. he still was NOT CONVINCED THAT JESUS WAS THE MESSIAH, and asked if another was to be expected! This is the same John who Jesus claimed was Elijah! (Chap. 11:13-14; John himself denied it - John 1:21.) If John were in truth Elijah, he most certainly would have recognised the true "messiah", but he didn't! Why? Simply because Jesus did NOT have the authentic "Messianic" credentials! The fact is that performing miracles and being a "son" of some "god" does NOT make someone into a "messiah"!

The promised Davidic ruler was to have accomplished specific tasks never accomplished by Jesus! This is borne out by the so-called "New Testament" as well. We read in acts 1:6-7. "when they therefore were come together they asked him, saying, Lord will you now restore the kingdom of Israel? and he said to them, it is not for YOU to know the times or seasons which the father has put in His own power!" Jesus' disciples knew that it was the "messiah's" task to "restore the kingdom to Israel". Jesus had been crucified and "raised from the dead", but they weren't satisfied with that! They still wanted the only meaningful accomplishment - the restoration of the kingdom to Israel! Jesus, of course, could NOT have given them this, and had therefore "explained" that his kingdom was "not of this world", "the kingdom of god is among you" etc. etc., but all these weak attempts at rationalizing his obvious powerlessness and failure were futile.

Moreover, these explanations were NOT compatible with that which was spoken by the "Holy Ghost" through Zacharias, the father of John - Elijah: "blessed be the Lord God of Israel; for He has visited and redeemed His people (Israel) and has raised up a horn of salvation for us (that generation!) in the house of his servant David (Jesus - "son of David") as He spoke by the mouth of his holy prophets, which have been since the world began: THAT WE (ZACHARIAS and his CONTEMPORARIES) SHOULD BE SAVED FROM OUR ENEMIES AND FROM THE HAND OF ALL THAT HATE US!" Apparently either Zacharias or the "Holy Ghost" had been misled into believing that Jesus would have done all this, but history proves otherwise! Some theologians like to "explain" that Jesus would have done all this, had he been accepted as the "messiah"! The plain truth is, THAT HE COULDN'T HAVE BEEN ACCEPTED as the "messiah" precisely, because HE DIDN'T and COULDN'T restore Israel's sovereignty and rescue Israel from its enemies! So the church changed him into a pagan "man-god saviour" who "saves" all those who believe in him (from sin and damnation, not from a real physical enemy!). As such, he really didn't have to do anything in this world, besides getting himself killed. This is NOT what YHVH, the True, One and Only Saviour promised His people Israel! Read about the True, Davidic King soon to rule over YHVH's Flock:

"Behold, the days are coming, says YHVH, when I shall raise up to David a righteous shoot, and he will reign as king and succeed, and will execute justice and righteousness in the land. In his days (not at his "second coming", but in his natural lifetime!) Judah will be saved (rescued) and Israel (the Ten Tribes) will dwell in safety. And this is his name by which he will be called, "YHVH is our JUSTICE". Jeremiah 23:5-6. Now let us compare this with Jesus' career:

Jesus was NOT descended from David: he was fathered by an unidentified "ghost". (Matthew 1:18). His mother's origin was both unknown and irrelevant, since descent is traced through the father! (see Matthew 1, Luke 3, First Chronicles 1, etc.) He never reigned as a king, nor did he succeed! He was murdered by the Roman oppressors of his people. He did NOT 'execute justice', but was himself executed! Judah was NOT rescued in his day! Judah was subjugated and despoiled in his day! Israel did NOT dwell in safety but was lost in exile in his day! His name was NOT "YHVH is our Justice" but "Jesus" for he was to have saved his people from their sins (Matthew 1:21) WHICH HE DIDN'T!!

The true Messiah's identity will be established by his accomplishments, and there will be no need for missionaries and missions to convince mankind that he is really the messiah. His acts will speak for themselves!

THINK UPON IT!
